Blog - DAVID ELLIS – JABBERPICS – DR. Z – HEBERMEHL
Over the past few months me and my friends Josh Branstetter (JABBERPICS) and James Zdaniewski (DR. Z) have had the pleasure of working with the world renowned artist David Ellis. I have been a fan of David’s for years and had a chance to meet him in November while he was in Savannah for SCAD’s Open Studio weekend. For those of who don’t know, David is one of the most innovative and important artists of the early twenty first century. He is one of the co – founders of the art collective known as the Barnstormers. The Barnstormers traveled throughout rural North Carolina painting murals on old barns while extensively documenting their work with film and video. The following video and photos document our time with David in Savannah and Miami during Art Basel 2009. We also had the pleasure of working with SWOON (also a Barnstormer), who in her own right has earned the distinction of being one of the most important and influential artists in the early twenty first century. Special thanks are in order for “Mama” Naleese at the Rib Hut in Savannah, GA for her hospitality and phenomenal food. She truly is a Savannah treasure and will always have a special place in my heart for facilitating one of the best days of my life. Enjoy.
